A person is missing after going into Lake St. Clair in Harrison Township on the evening of Saturday, Aug. 8, and hasn’t been seen since, authorities say.
The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Marine Division was sent to the lake two to three miles below the mouth of the South Channel of the St. Clair River after receiving a report of a person going into the water and not resurfacing. Both the U.S. Coast Guard and the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Marine Division helped in the effort to find them.
Other details, such as how the missing person wound up in the water, or information about the swimmer, weren’t yet available, according to Jennifer Putney of the sheriff’s office.
Despite a search throughout the night, the missing person has not yet been located. The search is ongoing.
