Voters in one area school district approved a multi-million-dollar plan for campus improvements while voters in another district narrowly turned down a similar proposition.
Burkburnett voters on Saturday gave a thumbs up to $28.8 million in bond issue for campus improvement projects, according to results from the Wichita County Elections Office. The ballot included two propositions, one for improvements to school facilities and the other for school recreational facilities
Voters in City View ISD rejected a $19.8 million bond issue for campus facilities by just one vote in a low turnout election. The final vote was 49 for the plan and 50 against. The improvements would have included a new elementary school.
Saturday also saw a smattering of political office elections in Wichita County.
According to the county elections office, Carl English and Bill Lindenborn were chosen for the Burkburnett City Commission.
Keli McCord and Raymond Forsythe won seats on the Iowa Park Consolidated ISD School Board while Amanda Quillen and Shane Robey won spots on the Electra ISD School Board.
Anthony McCormick won the Electra mayor’s race, and Christopher Lechman and Fran Davis were elected to the City Commission
Saturday was one of several uniform election days local governments could choose under Texas law.
