Undercover operation leads to 8 arrests, prostitution charges

Eight people were arrested as part of a recent prostitution sting operation, authorities said.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Criminal Investigations Division (CID) Special Agents conducted an undercover operation in Randall County on June 12-13, resulting in the arrests.

During the operation, eight people were charged with solicitation of prostitution — two of whom received additional charges, for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces and for unlawful carry of a weapon.

They were booked into the Randall County Jail. Most of the people arrested were from Amarillo, and residents of other states including Florida and Mississippi, as well as an El Paso resident, were identified and charged.

According to various media reports, one of the people arrested was a pastor at an Amarillo church.

DPS said the operation was conducted as a part of their ongoing efforts to combat criminal activity and protect Texas communities.
