A pair of former Texas A&M pitchers will represent the Aggies on the international stage this spring, as Ryan Prager and Michael Wacha have officially been selected to compete in the World Baseball Classic.
Wacha’s legacy in College Station is well established. During his standout career with the Aggies, he earned two All‑America honors and helped lead Texas A&M to back‑to‑back Big 12 championships. Selected 19th overall in the 2012 MLB Draft, Wacha went on to carve out a 13‑year major‑league career across six organizations, posting a 3.89 ERA with 1,416 strikeouts.
Prager, one of the program’s most consistent arms in recent years, earned All‑SEC honors in 2024 before being selected in the ninth round of the 2025 MLB Draft by the Cleveland Guardians. His 250 career strikeouts rank 12th all‑time in Texas A&M history.
Wacha will become just the third Aggie pitcher to represent Team USA in the World Baseball Classic. Prager, meanwhile, will compete for Team Israel, honoring his Jewish heritage. His selection marks a historic first—no former Aggie has ever represented a country other than the United States in the event.
The tournament begins March 5 at the Tokyo Dome (March 4 at 10 p.m. ET in the United States).
