The Tourism Trumpeter Award was dually given to Terri Caldwell on behalf of Don Caldwell, who died in 2024, and Mayor Pro Tem Christy Martinez-Garcia.

This award recognized Don Caldwell’s work, including the 4th on Broadway parade, Cactus Theater revitalization, and being a driving force in the community.

Martinez-Garcia also received the award for continuing the 4th on Broadway legacy, and her work to promote the cultural landscape.

The Rising Star, which recognizes a person with less than five years of experience in the industry, was given to Samantha Kohl. Kohl is the Sales Manager at the Embassy Suites by Hilton. She is known for her dedication, passion and leadership.

The Heart of Hospitality Award recognizes someone with more than five years of experience. This was awarded to Cameron and Rachel West, owners of West Family Hospitality Group. Their restaurants include Dirk’s, West Table, and The Neighborhood F&B.

“As we celebrate the monumental impacts travel has on the Hub City, I applaud and commend the lasting impressions today’s award winners make on the Lubbock community every day,” said John Osborne, president and CEO of Visit Lubbock. “From the visionary leadership and enduring legacy of Don Caldwell and Christy Martinez-Garcia, to Samantha Kohl’s commitment to hospitality and outstanding guest service and the creativity and dedication shown by Cameron and Rachel West, each honoree exemplifies the spirit of West Texas hospitality. Their work not only enhances our community but also helps grow our local economy, creating memorable experiences that inspire visitors to return time and again.”
