Tim Short has formally tossed his hat into the ring to run for another term as Wichita Falls mayor.
He made his announcement at a gathering of supporters on Monday. Election Day is Nov. 3.
He was first elected in November 2023 from a field of four candidates.
Short said he is running on “basically the same things as last time because we’re not finished.”
He said, “We’re running on economic development, no brakes, all gas and keeping that relationship we’ve built with Sheppard.”
He also said it was important to maintain water resources for the next generations.
Short has owned an insurance business in Wichita Falls for over 25 years. Additionally, he has served as president of the Wichita Falls Kiwanis Club, chairman of the Hands to Hands Community Fund and a volunteer and board member of Meals on Wheels.
One other candidate has announced for the position. Businessman Scott Poenitzsch will make his second challenge against Short for the top elected post in city government.
