Nintendo is bringing back the iconic Game Boy — kind of.
The video game company is partnering with the LEGO Group to bring back the nostalgic handheld gaming console in brick form, Nintendo announced on July 23. The LEGO Game Boy model building kit comes in a 421-piece replica of the original Game Boy.
The kit comes with all the memorable features, including the +Control Pad, A and B Buttons, and SELECT and START, alongside other iconic Game Boy details, such as the contrast adjustment and volume dial.
The kit also includes brick-built “The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening” and “Super Mario Land” games.
When will the Game Boy model building kit be available?
The Game Boy model building kit is available now for pre-order and will be available for purchase on October 1, 2025.
You can buy the kit from LEGO stores, LEGO.com and from select leading retailers around the world.
When did the Game Boy originally come out?
The Nintendo Game Boy was released in 1989, according to the National Museum of American History.
It contained an 8-bit Z80 processor with a monochrome LCD display and 4-channel stereo sound.
Nintendo shipped over 100 million units of the Game Boy and its successor, the Game Boy Color around the world.
