After entering the transfer portal over a week ago, former Longhorn star Aaliyah Moore could be inching closer to finding a new home. The Oklahoma native is spending her Wednesday visiting Washington, according to On3 reporter Talia Goodman. As the Huskies look to bolster their roster, Moore would be a welcome addition.
The Moore High Alum entered the portal following a very productive four-year career in the burnt orange. She averaged 8.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. While she was limited to 19 games during the 2024-2025 campaign, she was an effective piece when healthy. During March Madness, Moore was unable to suit up, and her presence was missed as Texas fell just a few wins short of a national title.
In her last season as a Longhorn, Moore averaged 7.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. She also shot 47.3 percent from the field and was not easy to guard close to the basket. That is partly why Washington is showing interest as it looks to build a national title contender.
Coming out of high school, the expectations were high for Moore. She was ranked as the No. 6 recruit in the 2021 class. The veteran forward showed why right away, scoring 39 points over the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament during her freshman year. Due to her play on the game’s biggest stages, head coach Vic Schaefer made Moore a key piece of his rotation.
As Moore continues to weigh her options, she will be a name to watch. She has generated interest in the portal with Washington being the latest school to enter the mix. Whichever school decides to bring her in will be getting a motivated player looking to provide a reminder of what she can do when healthy.
