Christian Anderson was named most improved and joined JT Toppin as a first team all-conference selection to lead the Texas Tech basketball team’s Big 12 Conference postseason awards.
Donovan Atwell earned honorable mention all-Big 12 and was named to the newcomer team.
League champion Arizona had the player of the year (Jaden Bradley) and coach of the year (Tommy Lloyd).
A total of 10 players were named first team all Big 12. Toppin was one of three unanimous selections to the first team.
Toppin started 25 games before his season-ending ACL tear against Arizona State. At the time, Toppin was averaging career-highs in points (21.8) and rebounds (10.8) per game, shooting 54.8% from the field.
Anderson has started 30 games for Texas Tech, ranking second on the team with 19.2 points per game and shooting 42.7% from 3-point range and set a new program single-season record with 233 assists during the regular season. A projected first-round pick in the NBA Draft this summer, Anderson may only have a few more games left in a Red Raider uniform.
Atwell, a transfer from UNC-Greensboro, set multiple records in his lone season with Texas Tech, ending the regular season with 121 made 3-pointers (a Texas Tech record) and also has the most made 3s in Big 12 Conference games (81) in league history.
