Texas Tech softball salvages series with Game 3 win over Utah

A day after being shut out by Utah, the Texas Tech softball team’s bats woke up to help salvage a Big 12 Conference series win over the Utes.

Texas Tech took Game 1 10-2 before falling 4-0 in the second game. The Red Raiders favored the long ball in Game 3 get out of Salt Lake City with a series victory.

Jackie Lis hit a pair of home runs for the second time in the series (also hit two in Game 1) and Texas Tech also got homers from Taylor Pannell, Lauren Allred and Mia Williams.

Texas Tech led just 1-0 most of the way when Gerry Glasco got ejected for arguing the umpire’s strike zone. The Red Raiders plated three runs apiece in the sixth and seventh innings.

NiJaree Canady earned her second win of the series with 11 strikeouts across six innings. She’s now 17-2 on the season.

Texas Tech (40-3, 16-2) continues its road swing with a game at Utah State before visiting UTSA and Texas State.
