Texas Tech freshman forward shares what he brings to the team

The Texas Tech Red Raiders welcomed a new addition to their men’s basketball team on Friday in guard Amari Barrett. But he isn’t the first addition to this year’s squad. In fact, Texas Tech has plenty of new faces on the roster this year. Back in May, 6-foot-7, 215-pound forward Trey Hall committed to Texas Tech for the 2026-27 season.

Hall graduated from North Crowley High School in Fort Worth, Texas, this past season. Texas Tech recently released a video in which he explained what he brings to the table for the Red Raiders.

“I bring energy, make sure my teammate is straight,” Hall said. “Once the team is feeling down, I’m the one to pick them back up. I give (coaches) my all every single day. They ask me to do something I hustle, one step at a time.”

Hall brings more than just his energy to the game. As a senior at North Crowley High, he averaged 14.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 2.0 steals per game. He shot 65% from the field and 38% from three-point range last season. His rebounding is his greatest strength.

“Go get the ball. Snatch it from anybody, even from your teammates.” Hall said. “Be selfish about rebounding. That’s what I tell myself. That’s one thing you can be selfish about.”
