A busy week continued on Tuesday for Longhorns baseball. The Longhorns secured a commitment from 3B/RP/OF Hudson Holt. Adding Holt to the mix for Texas gives them another elite talent who can play multiple positions. While his collegiate debut is still years away, the Longhorns’ future got brighter with the addition of Holt.
During his high school career, Holt has been a human highlight reel with his bat. He can drive the ball to all fields and still has plenty of room to go. For a program that is known for having an elite offense, Holt will be a perfect fit when he makes his college debut. However, that is not the only way; Holt has caught the attention of scouts.
The newest Longhorns also can also make an impact on the mound. Holt’s arsenal includes a fastball that maxes out at 89 miles per hour. He can also keep hitters off balance with a slider that tops out at eighty miles per hour and a curveball that tops out at 74 miles per hour. His pitch mix should continue to improve as he gets closer to arriving in Austin.
While Texas still has a few holes to fill, Holt is now part of what is shaping up to be an impressive 2027 class. The Longhorns have also secured commitments from Hayden Anderson, LHP Luke Armijo, RHP/ OF JJ Utash, RHP Becket Berg, OF Ira Rootman, and Catcher Lee Holt. That group will be tasked with keeping the Longhorns at the top of the SEC.
When announcing his decision on social media, Holt did not hold back his excitement. In a post on X, he said, “I would like to thank God, my family, coaches and teammates and friends on helping me get to where I am today. With that being said, I would like to announce my commitment to The University of Texas. Hook ’em.”
Although the Longhorns are far from done when it comes to adding for the future, they can now have another elite prospect in the mix in Holt, who can help take the program to another level.
