After starting the 2025 college football season as the No. 1 team in the nation, the Texas Longhorns have tumbled down the rankings in the new US LBM Coaches Poll. Texas fell to No. 6 after losing to Ohio State Saturday, 14-7.
Ohio State takes over the top spot in the poll. The Buckeyes were the preseason No. 2 in the initial Coaches Poll. The Buckeyes received 59 of 67 first-place votes. Penn State moves up a spot to No. 2, claiming six No. 1 votes. No. 3 Georgia and No. 4 LSU picked up a first-place vote each, and Oregon rounds out the Top 5.
Texas at No. 6 gives both the SEC and Big Ten three teams each in the top six spots. Miami jumps up three spots to No. 7 after beating Notre Dame 27-24. The Canes are followed by Clemson, who lost to LSU 17-10, the Irish fall to No. 9 and Arizona State rounds out the Top 10.
The biggest movers in the new ranking was Alabama, who dropped 12 spots to No. 20, and Florida State. The Seminoles jumped 28 spots after beating Bama 31-17. Ironically, FSU sits just ahead of the Crimson Tide at No. 19.
