Texas Football to face Michigan Wolverines in Citrus Bowl

On the outside looking in at the College Football Playoff, the Texas Longhorns will instead play in a bowl game. UT will play in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida at Camping World Stadium (formerly the Citrus Bowl Stadium). And the Horns will play a familiar foe, the Michigan Wolverines.

The next chapter of Texas-Michigan will happen on New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 3 p.m. CT on ABC. The Wolverines are playing the Longhorns for the second time in as many years. This time will pit UM quarterback Bryce Underwood against Arch Manning.

This is the third ever meeting between the two storied blue bloods. Last year, Texas dominated the Wolverines 31-12 at the Big House in Ann Arbor. The first time was in the 2005 Rose Bowl, when a Vince Young-led Texas beat the maize and blue 38-37 in a classic that would foreshadow VY’s exploits a year later in Pasadena against USC.

Texas is slated to face Michigan in 2027 in Austin, the back-end of the home-and-home series between the two original public ivy schools. This will also be the Longhorns first appearance in the Citrus Bowl, a game that has been around for 78 years.
