As Longhorns football continues to build for the future, they have entered the running for a three-star recruit. On Wednesday, the Longhorns offered talented linebacker Braylon Hodge. While Hodge has a lot of options on the table, Texas has made its interest clear.
Although Hodge would be a valuable addition to the Longhorns’ defense, they have a few programs to beat out. He has also received offers from Michigan State, Colorado State, Iowa, Michigan, and Minnesota. Currently, he is ranked as the 30th best linebacker in the 2027 class and the fifth best player from Colorado by 247Sports.
While Hodge committed to Michigan State on June 1, he has visited other programs. That list includes Utah, Minnesota, and Iowa. He also received an offer from Michigan on Wednesday, which, like Texas, is trying to make a final push and add Hodge to their future plans.
If the Longhorns can flip Hodge, they would have one fewer roster spot to worry about. Steve Sarkisian and his staff have already secured a commitment from linebacker Taven Epps, who is ranked as a four-star recruit. That list should continue to grow as more prospects come off the board, many of whom have been connected to Texas.
Over the next few weeks, the Longhorns will be a program to watch when it comes to Hodge. While they have entered the running a little late, they think enough of his potential to throw their hat in the ring.
