During his first season as a Texas Longhorn, Dailyn Swain has arguably been the team’s most important player. Since the season opener, he has been a scoring machine for Sean Miller as Texas has inched closer to a March Madness berth. On Monday, the talented junior added to his trophy case when he was named the SEC Men’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week.
In the Longhorns’ latest win over Missouri on Saturday, Swain recorded a game-high 25 points and two steals in 37 minutes of action. He also added six rebounds and two assists to his resume. Regardless of where he was on the court, Swain was dangerous with the ball in his hands, going 3-6 from three-point range.
For Swain, Monday’s honor was the latest in an unforgettable 2025-2026 campaign. Earlier this month, the Columbus native was named to the Midseason Watch List for the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award. He currently leads the Longhorns in points per game with 17.6, rebounds per game with 7.3, and assists with 85.
With four games left in the regular season, Swain has playing his best basketball of the season at the perfect time. He has scored at least 18 points in six of his last seven games. That included a 26-point effort against Georgia who is ranked as the 21st best team in the country. For a team with national championship aspirations, that was a major win.
Additionally, Swain has taken his game to another level in conference play. Against SEC teams, the Africentric Early College alum is averaging 20.4 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. That has helped the Longhorns hold their own against some of the best teams in the country.
As long as Swain continues his recent play, more accolades could be heading his way. His play against Missouri was just one of many examples of why he has become a fan favorite in the Forty Acres.
