Texas baseball holds position in new USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

It is status quo for head coach Jim Schlossnagle and the Texas Longhorns baseball team. After winning the weekend’s SEC series 2-1 over Vanderbilt in Nashville, UT remains No. 4 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

The top seven teams in this week’s ranking stayed the same, led by No. 1 UCLA. North Carolina and Georgia Tech check in just ahead of Texas, followed by Georgia, Louisville and Texas A&M as the core group at the top.

On Friday, The Longhorns launched four home runs in an 11-4 over the Commodores, highlighted by Aiden Robbins’ third multi-homer performance in the last seven games.

Vandy used three pitchers Saturday for a combined 6-0 shutout to even the three-game set. But Sunday, closer Sam Cozart got the final nine outs, as UT outlasted Vanderbilt, 4-3 in extra-innings at Hawkins Field.

The SEC has ten ranked teams, with the Longhorns being the highest in the poll.
