Texas A&M’s Mya Perez named to Softball America’s Top 100 list

The Texas A&M softball team battled wire‑to‑wire this season, and although the postseason run ended sooner than they hoped, the Aggies still delivered plenty of memorable highs. Leading the way was junior utility standout Mya Perez, who on Tuesday earned a spot on Softball America’s Top 100 Players list, another major recognition for one of the most dangerous hitters in the country.

All year long, Perez faced the full Barry Bonds treatment. Opposing staffs wanted no part of her bat, choosing to pitch around her, issue intentional walks, or let pitches glance off her elbow guard rather than challenge her in the zone. Even with the constant workarounds, Perez never strayed from her approach.

That patience turned into history. Perez became the only Division I player to reach base in 55 consecutive games this season and set a Texas A&M single‑season record with 31 walks. And when she did get pitches to hit, she made them count, finishing second on the roster with 19 home runs while pacing the Aggies in nearly every major offensive category:

Perez has long been recognized as one of the most complete hitters to come through College Station, and being ranked No. 30 only strengthens that case. Even with opponents doing everything possible to keep the ball out of her wheelhouse, she continued to produce at an All‑American level, proving her discipline, power, and maturity every time she stepped into the box.
