Texas A&M star OF Caden Sorrell erupts with two homers in return

Texas A&M baseball has navigated a chaotic opening stretch across college baseball, avoiding the early‑season upset bug and improving to 8–0 despite a growing list of key injuries. One of the biggest concerns came when star outfielder Caden Sorrell missed Game 3 of the Penn series with a hand injury. His return against Lamar, however, looked like a turning point.

Sorrell opened the year on fire, stacking nine hits, 10 RBI, and three home runs on opening weekend to earn SEC Player of the Week honors. But after that explosive start, he went hitless across his next three games and exited late in Game 2 against Penn with the hand issue.

Baseball is built on failure, and Sorrell has long embraced the “never too high, never too low” approach that defines the sport. That mindset paid off Tuesday night, when he snapped out of the slump in emphatic fashion.

In five at‑bats, Sorrell recorded three hits—none of them routine. His first knock was a solo home run in the second inning. Two innings later, he delivered the Aggies’ first grand slam of the season, pushing A&M into run‑rule territory and reminding everyone why he’s viewed as one of the SEC’s most dangerous bats.

With a major step up in competition looming at the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series in Arlington, Sorrell’s resurgence arrives at the perfect time. If the Aggies want to keep their unbeaten start alive against a loaded field, getting their star outfielder back on track is exactly the boost they needed heading into the weekend.
