Texas A&M is on the verge of landing the program’s second tight end commitment in the 2026 recruiting class, as four-star TE Caleb Tafua recently shut down his recruitment earlier this summer. On Thursday, it was revealed that fellow four-star TE Evan Jacobson, who took an official visit to College Station this summer, is now predicted to commit to the Aggies over Notre Dame and Iowa State.
A Waukee, Iowa native, Jacobson is also a standout basketball player and has communicated his intent to play both sports at the next level. Rivals insiders Steve Wiltfong and Greg Smith have submitted their predictions for the Aggies to land Jacobson, while Rivals/On3 Texas A&M insider Jaxson Callaway was one of the earlier insiders to link Jacobson with the Aggies.
Iowa State and Notre Dame have both secured top tight end commitments, and based on Texas A&M OC Collin Klein’s tight end-centric scheme, Tafua and, possibly, Jacobson are an elite haul, as both players are hybrid receivers who can inline block when asked.
At nearly 6’6″ and 230 pounds, Jacobson’s impressive route running and quickness at his size make him a candidate to see the field as soon as his first or second season.
According to On3, Jacobson is currently positioned as the 14th-ranked tight end prospect in the 2026 cycle, and the 3rd-ranked prospect in Iowa.
