Texas A&M hosted priority 2027 4-star Edge commit this weekend

Texas A&M’s final weekend of the spring practice season served as a key opportunity to host a wide range of 2027 recruiting class targets and several of the program’s 11 commits, including quarterback Jayce Johnson and four-star edge Kaden McCarty, two players who continue to rise in the overall rankings.

While Johnson is certainly a player to watch regarding a potential flip, McCarty is also getting a ton of attention after an impressive offseason at the Rivals Houston Camp, where he showed off his natural pass-rush ability. McCarty will take an official visit to College Station on May 29, and, similar to 2027 5-star OL Albert Simien, getting back to campus in an unofficial capacity is always a good sign.

Standing 6’2″ and nearly 220 pounds, McCarty’s blend of strength and athleticism was on full display during his Rivals camp performance, and could lead to becoming a five-star prospect by this time next fall. Right now, coach Mike Elko and defensive line coaches Elijah Robinson and Tony Jerod-Eddie are looking to lock him down ahead of the early signing period.

During his last two seasons at Cy Falls, McCarty produced 110 tackles, 23 sacks, and 50 tackles for loss, leading to nearly 30 scholarship offers, a number that has continued to grow. In combination with five-star edge commit Zyron Forstall, McCarty’s potential as a wide-nine pass rusher has the Aggie staff very excited ahead of his senior season.

According to Rivals, McCarty is currently positioned as the 21st-ranked edge and 20th-ranked prospect in Texas.
