Texas A&M baseball scored seven runs off two home runs in the second inning, then added 11 more in the third, never looking back en route to a dominant 21-1 win Tuesday over Incarnate Word.
The Aggies tallied four home runs and collected 13 hits on the night, including two home runs by center fielder Jace LaViolette.
A&M pitcher Gavin Lyons was given the ball for his first start of the season and had a strong outing aided by an offensive outburst. He gave up zero runs in four innings of work, finishing the day with two strikeouts, allowing one hit on 42 pitches.
Cardinals’ starting pitcher, EJ Garcia, got lit up by the Aggies, surrendering 10 runs in the 2.1-inning appearance.
Garcia didn’t register a strikeout, allowing eight hits on 49 pitches.
The Aggies now turn their attention to Knoxville for a College World Series final rematch against Tennessee next weekend.
