It was right to wonder if the Houston Texans offense would show up after two weeks off on Monday night.
It didn’t until the fourth quarter when C.J. Stroud connected with running back Woody Marks for a 4-yard touchdown pass to cushion the blow of a 27-19 loss against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field.
Largely, the defense was the story worth talking about after forcing four turnovers and collecting the only other touchdown from Houston when leaving the Emerald City.
In Denico Autry’s return from the injured reserve, he was impressive. The veteran defensive tackle only played 10 snaps, but was impactful, recording three tackles, a sack, a quarterback hit (2 tkl, sack, tfl, qb hit) & blocked a FG
Azeez Al-Shaair, who was penalized for a late hit on Sam Darnold, played all 72 defensive snaps, while defensive back Jalen Pitre in all 100 percent of reps. Pitre forced three stops on third down and broke up a pass while Al-Shaair led the Texans with 11 tackles.
At left guard, Laken Tomlinson started the game, but Juice Scruggs rotated in. This time around, it was the veteran seeing action in 43 snaps compared to Scruggs’ 33.
Rookie wide receiver Jalyin Noel, who caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from Stroud in the fourth quarter, finished with a season-high 33 offensive snaps. That number must expand after finishing with four catches for 77 yards and two explosive first-down grabs.
Here’s a look at the Texans’ team snap count from Monday night’s 27-19 loss out at Lumen Field.
The Texans, who fell to 2-4 with a loss, will return home for three straight games, starting off Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. Houston also will take on the Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars before hitting the road for a finale against the Tennessee Titans.
