Texans snap count notes from 21-20 Week 2 loss vs. Buccaneers

The Houston Texans were already down several starters on offense for Monday night’s implosion on national television against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but that didn’t help with how terrible at times the defense looked at trying to bring down players in space.

Three players saw all 80 defensive snaps in Monday’s 20-19 loss against Tampa Bay at NRG Stadium. Linebacker Hery To’oTo and defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson played 77 snaps while linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair played 76 snaps.

Al-Shaair left the game on third down because of a back sprain, but returned to the field in the fourth quarter after Christian Harris was flagged for a facemask call. Among defensive linemen, Danielle Hunter recorded his 100th career sack and finished with the most reps at 63.

C.J. Stroud, Tay Ersery, Tyuts Howard and Laken Tomlinson were the only offensive players to play 100 percent of the snaps. Nico Collins and Xavier Hutchinson played 84 and 68 percent of snaps, respectively.

Here’s a look at the Texans’ team snap count from Monday’s 20-19 loss out at NRG Stadium.

The Texans take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday afternoon at EverBank Field on CBS.
