Sark, 'Don't forget about (Texas Football WR) Ryan Wingo!"

Much of the offseason attention for the Texas Longhorns has come from the two wide receiver transfer portal signings. Cam Coleman from Auburn and Sterling Berkhalter from Wake Forest have remade the UT WR room. But Texas coach Steve Sarkisian says we shouldn’t forget about Ryan Wingo.

“I feel like we’ve forgotten about Ryan Wingo. This guy was a second team all-SEC receiver and had over 850 yards last year. And we all liked Xavier (Worthy) when he was here. Xavier one year, I think he had 700 yards. And all of a sudden we’re going to forget about Ryan Wingo? He’s a really good player.” – Texas coach Steve Sarkisian

Coleman has been putting on a show in spring practice, making circus catches that have gone viral. But Sark knows that Wingo’s presence will only make the other receivers, including his new signings, better.

“We’re fortunate to have him to go along with Cam (Coleman) and Emmitt (Mosley V). That’s one thing that has shown me, as Ryan has come back into the fold, it’s like, ‘Wow, this guy’s really good. And he continues to get better from where he was his freshman year to where he is now.”

Wingo has been dealing with a thumb/wrist injury he suffered late last season. The St. Louis native had offseason surgery to address the issue that he dealt with in 2025 without missing any time.

“It’s getting better for sure. Some stuff I am getting held out of, but it’s getting better. I’m catching and stuff like that,” – Texas WR Ryan Wingo

Wingo should be good to go when the season kicks off in September.
