Vote now for the Caller-Times High School Athlete of the week for April 20-25, presented by Apple Dental Center

Dominant pitching performances and stellar hitting at the plate headline this week’s Apple Dental Center Athlete of the Week nominees.

Santa Gertrudis Academy’s K’Lee Bazan led the way offensively with a multi-home run performance in a playoff win against George West.

Flour Bluff’s Sierra Morris delivered in a key moment with multiple home runs in an extra-inning playoff victory.

Bishop’s Cambrie Rios and Ingleside’s Kylie Ward each delivered in the circle and at the plate in playoff wins.

On the baseball side, Calallen’s Drayton Mitchell turned in a complete performance by striking out 12 and contributing at the plate.

Students can only be named Athlete of the Week once per season, per sport, and athletes from one school cannot win more than three consecutive weeks.

Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Monday and can be submitted through email at ctsports@caller.com by messaging the Caller-Times through its Facebook page, or on X @CallerSports. Please include statistics or honors for your athlete.

Dylan Arriaga, Sinton baseball — Arriaga threw a complete-game shutout with 11 strikeouts in a 4-1 win against Port Lavaca Calhoun.

K’Lee Bazan, Santa Gertrudis Academy softball — Bazan went 2-for-2 with two home runs and five RBIs in a playoff win against George West. Bazan also homered in the first game of the series.

Nathaniel Jaramillo, Falfurrias baseball — Jaramillo went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and pitched three strong innings in a 21-2 win against Taft.

Drayton Mitchell, Calallen baseball — Mitchell went 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and struck out 12 over six innings in a win against Zapata.

Sierra Morris, Flour Bluff softball — Morris had two home runs and four RBIs in an extra-inning playoff win against La Joya Palmview.

Jon Reyes, Veterans Memorial baseball — Reyes threw a complete-game shutout with 11 strikeouts in a 2-0 win against Alice.

Cambrie Rios, Bishop softball — Rios threw a four-inning shutout and went 3 for 3 with a double, a triple and four RBIs in a playoff win against West Oso.

Kylie Ward, Ingleside softball — Ward threw a two-hit shutout and went 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI in a playoff win against Sweeny.
