San Angelo storm brought high winds, little rain

San Angelo schools, restaurants and business closed their doors early Tuesday afternoon due to possible inclement weather. Here’s what San Angelo actually got in rain.

San Angelo into the Big Country area were issued a thunderstorm and tornado watch on Tuesday, March 10.

Michael Decker, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said most of San Angelo got half an inch of rain or less.

Decker said there were some tornados spotted in the Clyde area, and some touched down in the Abilene area.

“There was some storm damage in northeast San Angelo, a large tree branch 6-plus inches, fell onto a car,” Decker said. “We didn’t get much hail reports. The Abilene area got some softball sized hail.”

Decker also said San Angelo had winds around 52 miles per hour.

Thursday: Sunny with a high near 69. North northeast wind around 5 mph becoming south in the afternoon.

Thursday night: Clear with a low around 49. South wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday: Sunny with a high near 87. Southwest wind around 10 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Friday night: Clear with a low around 54. South to southwest wind around 10 mph.

Saturday: Sunny with a high near 90. Southwest wind around 10 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 59. South to southwest wind 10 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with a high near 85. Southwest wind around 15 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Sunday night: Mostly clear with a low around 39. Northeast wind around 15 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Monday: Mostly sunny with a high near 63.

Monday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 39.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 75.
