An Amarillo off-duty officer who showed signs of being intoxicated after a crash was arrested this weekend.
Officers went to the scene of a “minor traffic crash” about 8:10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, in the 2200 block of Wolflin Avenue. A female caller advised police she was driving a white Ford when a red truck struck her vehicle, the Amarillo Police Department said.
After officers arrived, the woman in the Ford was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
While investigating the crash, police learned the driver of the red truck was Tre Galvan, 33, an off-duty Amarillo officer. APD said Galvan showed signs of possible intoxication, and he was taken to an area hospital for a blood draw.
He was then booked into the Potter County Jail on a DWI charge.
Galvan has been placed on administrative leave, while internal and criminal investigations are completed.
