NBA Summer League: See time, TV channel, where to watch Cooper Flagg vs. Bronny James

The NBA Summer League is low stakes, but it’s a great opportunity for NBA rookies and sophomores to show off their game while the NBA season is on hiatus.

Tonight’s matchup will feature two players with something to prove — Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg and Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James.

Both players are tasked with similar narratives. Can Flagg be the new savior and face of the Mavs after the controversial trade of Luka Dončić? Can Bronny live up to his father’s last name coming into his second season?

Here’s how to watch the Lakers-Mavericks NBA Summer League game tonight.

What time is the Lakers-Mavericks NBA Summer League game?

Where to watch NBA Summer League?

Here’s how you can watch tonight’s NBA Summer League game:

Who is Copper Flagg?

The Mavericks drafted Cooper Flagg, the standout two-way forward from Duke who came close to winning all the major National Player of the Year honors in college.

During his freshman year, Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists at Duke this season. He shot 48.1% from the field, 38.5% from 3-point range, 84% from the foul line and was the Associated Press’ national player of the year. Last year, during a Team USA basketball scrimmage leading up to the Olympics, Flagg was invited to play with the pros. During the scrimmage, Flagg played against future Hall of Famers such as LeBron James, Steph Curry and Jayson Tatum

According to reports, Flagg did not disappoint. You can see highlights of his play below.

Who is Bronny James?

Bronny James (real name, Lebron James Jr.) is the son of future NBA Hall of Fame player Lebron James. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 2024 draft.

James spent his collegiate season at the University of Southern California, but his playing time was cut short after a health scare in 2023. He experienced a cardiac arrest during a practice due to a congenital heart defect. He was treated and cleared to return to playing basketball full time.

During his first season, James faced criticism from media members, basketball fans and peers, mainly for being questioned if he deserved his spot on the team.

James briefly played in the NBA’s minor league system. In his first season in the G League, James averaged 13 points, three rebounds, three assists, and one steal in 27 minutes per game.

During the NBA season, James averaged 6.7 minutes per game during the 2024-2025 season, coming off the bench for the Lakers.
