Motorcycle collisions leave 1 dead, 1 injured in Socorro, East El Paso

One man died and another person was seriously injured in two separate motorcycle collisions in the El Paso area over the weekend.

One person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries following a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle that occurred about 1 a.m. Sunday, June 29, in the 9500 block of Montana Avenue near McRae Boulevard in East El Paso, a police spokesperson said in a message.

The El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating. Further details, including the names of those involved, were not immediately available.

Man dies in motorcycle collision on Socorro Road

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle collision that killed a motorcyclist on Saturday, June 28, in Socorro.

Filbert Candelaria, 32, died at the scene of the collision, which occurred about 1:25 a.m. Saturday in the 11100 block of Socorro Road, stated a news release issued by sheriff’s spokeswoman Priscilla I. Contreras.

Candelaria was eastbound on Socorro Road when his motorcycle collided with a Nissan passenger vehicle, Contreras stated. Candelaria died at the scene. The occupants of the Nissan were not injured.

Further details on the wreck were not released as the investigation continues.

The Socorro Police Department first responded to the crash. Sheriff’s Office special traffic investigators were called to take over the investigation due to its severity.
