Groups have called for “a nationwide day of economic disruption.” Organizers are demanding that the U.S. government “tax the rich … no ICE, no war, no private army serving unchecked federal power” and “expand democracy, not corporate power.”

Teach-ins, rallies, student walk-outs and marches are planned as part of the actions on Friday. Organizers have called for a day of non-violent resistance.

What is May Day Strong?

The protests on Friday, May 1, are being organized by a large coalition of over 200 organizations across the country that include unions, activist groups, climate justice advocates and pro-democracy groups like Indivisible, which has organized the No Kings protests.

“We know that Trump and his cronies are going to try to sabotage the election. And when that happens, it won’t be enough to pull from our regular playbook,” organizers wrote in a training guide on the Indivisible website. “We will need to demonstrate a widespread backlash that lets Trump know that we won’t just go along while he tries to rig our democracy.”

The No Kings protests have become massive events across the U.S., drawing millions to protest the Trump administration. Protesters have had a long list of complaints about the administration, including the war with Iran, rising costs, attacks on democratic institutions, heavy-handed immigration enforcement and mass deportation, and many other issues.
