One man is dead after a three-vehicle crash in Nolan County, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash happened on Nov. 26 around 5:30 p.m. at Interstate Highway 20 and Farm to Market Road 608, the DPS said in the media release.
Christopher Cardoza, 33, of Roscoe was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup southbound on FM 608, turning left onto the south service road of I-20, according to the preliminary investigation.
Christy Harris, 49, of Maryneal was driving a Kia Soul northbound on FM 608, turning right onto the same service road, the DPS said.
Cardoza struck Harris’ vehicle at the driver’s side door, then continued up an embankment and over a guard rail onto eastbound I-20, according to the release.
He then struck a Peterbilt truck tractor driven by Donald J. Krause, 58, of New Lenox, Illinois, the DPS said.
Krause, who was traveling east on IH-20, left the roadway, passed through guard rails, went down an embankment and stopped in a parking lot off the south service road, according to the release.
Cardoza was pronounced dead by Nolan County Justice of the Peace Angie Collier, the DPS said. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
The other drivers were transported to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater with minor injuries, the DPS said. The two were listed as wearing their seatbelts.
Road conditions were clear and dry, the release stated.
