Local calendar packed with holiday family fun

Parades, park drive-throughs and tree lightings planned

Once the turkey has been carved and enjoyed by friends and family it’s time to start crowding your calendars with all the holiday fun that December brings.

Locally, there are plenty of opportunities to meet with Santa, view beautiful Christmas lights and shop while enjoying all things related to the holiday season. In many instances, these events are free.

Here’s a list of holiday events coming up by date:

Port Huron – Nov. 28 – Jan. 2

The Gift Shop at the Maritime Museum in Algonac will open its store for shopping on Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Winter Celebration at Pine Grove Park starts Friday, Nov. 28.

Join Port Huron Parks and Recreation for holiday fun from 5 to 10 p.m. See the 40-foot lighted tree, sparkling holiday lights and festive displays local organizations and businesses create for all to enjoy for free outdoors at Pine Grove Park through Jan. 2, 2026.

Walk or drive through Pine Grove Park to see the lighted holiday displays. Free parking is available on-site. The event is hosted by the Port Huron Recreation Department.

Pine Grove Park is located in Port Huron at 1204 Pine Grove Ave.

Marysville – Weds. Dec. 3 to Sunday, Jan. 4

Christmas in the Park in Marysville

Algonac – Saturday, Dec. 6 – from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Algonac-Clay Historical Society Pop-Up

The annual Algonac Christmas in the Nac’ is set for Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. with loads of activities until the tree lighting at 7 p.m

This “Pop-in Pop-up” is coming up just in time for Christmas at the Maritime Museum. Historical Society member Martha Szymanski has filled the shop with so many beautiful items, T-shirts, caps, sweatshirts, books, art, coffee mugs, coasters, stuff for kids and more.

Algonac – Saturday, Dec. 6 at 4 p.m.

Algonac Christmas in the Nac’

The event will be hosted by the City of Algonac, Algonac Alive, Algonac-Clay Historical Society and The Faith Coalition of Algonac.

The event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. and will include the annual Algonac Christmas tree lighting with the Algonac Alive Christmas Card Lane display.

The event will include a Nativity, a petting zoo, hot dogs, snacks and hot chocolate.

In addition, the Faith Coalition of Algonac will host Christmas Music at Riverfront Park from 4 to 7 p.m. The tree lighting starts at 7 p.m.

Marine City Maritime Days – Merrytime Christmas Saturday Dec. 6 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A citywide old-fashioned holiday event. Shop and stroll the streets of the city with carolers along the way. Enjoy a bake sale, themed Christmas trees and free kids’ crafts at the old Guy Center located at 303 Water Street, downtown Marine City.

Port Huron – Saturday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m.

Festive Tree Lighting and holiday party

Port Huron Parks and Recreation Department will host a festive holiday tree lighting in the open field at Knox Park.

Before the tree lighting, attend the holiday party at the Harvey Community Center at 3 p.m. for a visit with Santa, hot cocoa, pizza, crafts and more. Raymond Harvey generously donated a live tree for this special celebration.

Additional holiday lights will also be displayed around the Knox Park from 5-10 p.m. from Nov. 28, 2025 to Jan. 2, 2026. All ages are welcome to attend this free event.

Knox Park is located at 2898 26th St. Port Huron.

Clay Township – Sunday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m.

Pearl Beach Lions Christmas in the Park at Clay Township Park

Free Sleigh Rides with Santa at 4 p.m. and Christmas Tree Lighting at 5 p.m.– free event

Free hot dogs and hot chocolate

Clay Township Park is located at 4768 Point Tremble Road, Clay

Ira Township – Monday, Dec. 8 – Tree Lighting at 5:30 p.m.

Christmas Tree Lighting in Ira Township – starts at 5:30 p.m. tree lighting follows

Park address: 7085 Meldrum Road, Ira.

Featuring Santa, Mrs. Claus, a fire truck and goodie bags to the first 100 kids, hot dogs, refreshments and visits with Elsa and Olaf.

Marine City – Riverside indoor Holiday Market – Saturday, Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Inside the Old West Marine Building next door to Algonac Liquor off M-29 and Michigan Street.

Hosted by Jacob’s Ladder Farm and Home and Algonac Liquor.

Algonac – Holiday Golf Cart Parade – Saturday, Dec. 13 – dusk

Golf cart parade on Dec. 13 in Algonac from Lions Field and a path around Algonac. Golf carts and side by sides but no dirt bikes. Those that show up with a dirt bike will be asked very nicely to leave. Algonac Councilman Jake Skarbek said put lights all over your vehicles and there will be live music and it should be a good time.

Marine City – Saturday, Dec. 20 – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The city will be hosting a Holiday Jubilee and vendor market on Saturday, Dec. 20 at the Guy Community Center. There will be hot chocolate, candy canes and photos with Santa from 10 a.m.

to 2 p.m. and plenty of vendors to choose from for shopping. The Guy Community Center is located at 545 Ward Street.

*SANTA LETTERS: A Letters to Santa Mailbox has been installed at Pine Grove Park. Children wishing to write a Christmas wish list or letter to Santa may drop their letter into the mailbox for a response from Santa’s head elf. Santa to respond to every child.

The last day to drop off a letter is Monday, Dec. 15. Please include a postal address if you wish to receive a response before Christmas. The mailbox is located at Pine Grove Park at 1204 Pine Grove Ave. near the concession stand
