The Nancy Anderson Chapter and the Francis Rainey Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently announced the 2026 DAR Good Citizen awards for South Plains area high schools.
The DAR Good Citizens program and scholarship contest encourages and rewards area high school seniors who exhibit the qualities of good citizenship – dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. The DAR continues a long-standing tradition of promoting education and investing in the future of our youth.
An awards ceremony and reception was held at the Lubbock Women’s Club on Wednesday, Feb. 19 to honor outstanding high school seniors from 42 South Plains high schools. James Eppler, FOX34 news anchor, emceed the event.
Each DAR Good Citizen receives a monetary award, DAR Good Citizen pin, certificate of recognition, honor cord and gift bag. VFW Post #2466 has generously donated United States flags and flags pins to be presented to each DAR Good Citizen.

Devin Ramby of Lubbock Cooper High School were presented with the Outstanding American History teacher award from the Francis Rainey Chapter.
Billy Don Hampton of All Saints Episcopal High School were presented with the Outstanding American History teacher award from the Nancy Anderson Chapter.
What is the Daughters of the American Revolution?
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a non-profit women’s service organization whose members can trace their lineage to an individual who contributed to securing American independence during the Revolutionary War.
Today’s DAR is dynamic and diverse, with over 185,000 members in 3,000 chapters in the United States and abroad.
DAR members annually provide millions of hours of volunteer service to their local communities across the country and world and promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
