The managers of the soon-to-open Las Espadas Brazilian Restaurant, at the base of the PNC Bank at 6044 Gateway Blvd., have started the hiring process.
Alex Danielli, who is Brazilian and the Chief Operations Officer, said he and Jorge Ibarra, CEO and founder of Las Espadas, plan to hire about 130 staff members, including part-time employees, and hope to open in time for Labor Day weekend.
“All positions are posted on Indeed and we will be interviewing people through next Wednesday, Aug. 12,” Danielli said. Positions range from kitchen staff to servers and dishwashers.
Danielli said they are looking to hire a range of employees, including college students looking for their first job.
“We really want to work with people and believe in a training concept. If people want to work part time because they go to school, we will work with them,” he said, adding that they will have a space available for student employees to study ahead of shifts.
Danielli, who has years of experience working with Fogo de Chão, a Brazilian steakhouse chain, said they are excited to open Las Espadas, whose success stems from Mexico.
“Jorge Ibarra wants to leave a legacy, having El Paso as headquarters for the largest Brazilian steakhouse in the casual dining category,” he said.
“We have eight in Mexico, and the restaurant is known for the most variety in a salad bar, with usually 40 salads and hot dishes as well as 13 different meats,” he added. The restaurant’s main proteins are beef, pork, chicken and lamb.
Popular skewered cuts of beef include Fraldinha, Portuguese for flank steak; Alcatra, a top sirloin cut; and Picanha, a top sirloin cap.
The restaurant will also have an upstairs bar, Ipanema, named after a Brazilian mocktail, with food service and available for events.
