In his first interview since facing allegations of using a social media “burner” account to privately criticize his teammates, veteran Rockets star Kevin Durant told Houston reporters that he is “not here to get into Twitter nonsense.”
Alperen Sengun and Jabari Smith Jr. were allegedly criticized, according to unverified screenshots featuring an account accused of being Durant.
“I know you’ve got to ask these questions, but I’m not here to get into Twitter (X) nonsense,” Durant said after Wednesday’s practice in Houston (via Brian Barefield, Rockets Wire). “I’m here to focus on the season and keep pushing.”
“My teammates know what it is, we’ve been locked in the whole season. We had a great practice today, and we’re looking forward to the road trip.”
Durant, a 2026 NBA All-Star, leads Houston in scoring (25.8 points per game) while connecting on 50.6% of his shots and 40.3% from 3-point range.
With Durant in the starting lineup alongside Sengun and Smith, the Rockets (33-20) will resume their 2025-26 schedule on Thursday night in Charlotte. Tipoff versus the Hornets (26-29) is at 6:00 p.m. Central, and the game will be televised regionally on Space City Home Network and nationally via NBA League Pass.
Coming out of the league’s 2026 All-Star break, Houston is one game back of the Denver Nuggets (35-20) for the No. 3 spot in the West standings.
