Kamala Harris endorses Jasmine Crockett in Texas Senate primary

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is throwing her support behind U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett in the Democratic U.S. Senate primary in Texas.

In a robocall for Crockett’s campaign, Harris urged voters to get to the polls — either on the last day of early voting or on Election Day — to cast their ballots for Crockett, D-Dallas, who is locked in a tight primary battle with state Rep. James Talarico, D-Austin.

“Texas has the chance to send a fighter like Jasmine Crockett to the United States Senate,” Harris says in the call, which was first shared with The Texas Tribune. “Jasmine has the experience and record to hold Donald Trump and his billionaire cronies accountable.”

The support from Harris, who remains popular with Democrats despite falling short in her race against President Donald Trump two years ago, marks a significant boost for Crockett with only days left before the March 3 primary.

“It’s time to turn Texas blue,” Harris said at the end of the call, which went out to voters on the last day of early voting.
