Democratic U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico is once again bringing his message to television viewers across Texas.
Talarico announced the launch of his second General Election television ad on Tuesday, July 21, which is set to appear on screens in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, El Paso and Harlingen-McAllen media markets. The latest ad is part of a seven-figure ad buy that Talarico’s team is hoping will push him over the finish line in his pursuit to topple Republican Ken Paxton in November.
Entitled “Waking Up,” the ad features Talarico driving across Texas Hill Country, recounting his life experiences of being raised by a single mother, teaching in one of the state’s poorest neighborhoods and eventually bringing Republicans and Democrats together in the Texas House of Representatives to pass 60 bipartisan bills to lower drug costs and cut property taxes.
In the ad, Talarico vows to “take on corruption and make this economy work for working people again.”
The latest ad buy follows Talarico’s first General Election ad, which focused on the struggles Texas families are facing because of the continually rising costs of basic necessities such as groceries, gas and healthcare.
The ad received pushback from Paxton’s campaign, which insisted Talarico voted against a massive tax break for Texas families. Talarico’s team, however, countered that the state representative voted in favor of “the largest property tax break in Texas history” and “any assertion otherwise is a flat out lie.”
