Childress football player Jacob Mora has been voted the Happy State Bank Boys High School Athlete of the Week for Sept. 15-21.
Mora caught two passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns in the Bobcats’ win against Sunray, adding six tackles, three interceptions, three pass breakups and a pick six.
The senior received 7,119 of the 12,664 votes cast for athlete of the week, which was 56.21% of total votes.
Highland Park volleyball player Kaitlin Lucas was voted the Happy State Bank Girls High School Athlete of the Week for Sept. 15-21.
Lucas notched 30 digs and three aces in Highland Park’s match against Tulia.
The sophomore received 1,998 of the 12,664 votes cast for athlete of the week, which was 15.78% of total votes.
Students in all varsity sports are eligible and can only be named Athlete of the Week one time per season, per sport, and athletes from one school cannot win more than three consecutive weeks.
Nominations are due by 5 p.m. each Saturday and can be submitted through email at sports@amarillo.com.
