Tuesday was the final outing for the Community Foundation of Abilene’s annual area-wide fundraiser known as Abilene Gives.
According to the group, $2.26 million was raised for nearly 200 nonprofit organizations in the Key City and the Big Country from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

This was the final Abilene Gives from the Community Foundation. Next year the group is going to replace the fundraising drive with a two-day conference aimed at teaching nonprofit groups how to maximize their efforts in fundraising, organizing and achieving their goals.
In 2017, the first year for Abilene Gives, $486,000 was raised. Added to the next nine years’ total, it adds up to just over $16 million.
“Thank you to the community, thank you to the donors for making the last 10 years such an amazing time for Abilene Gives,” said Katie Alford, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Abilene. “We could not have done this without you.”
