Applications are being accepted in the Hendrick Health Junior Volunteer program, the healthcare provider announced this week in a release. The program connects teens to “meaningful community service” while exploring what a career in healthcare might offer.
Opportunities to serve are available at the Abilene and Brownwood Hendrick campuses
“During the summer, our junior volunteers are visible throughout the hospitals and clinics serving in various roles in clinical and nonclinical areas,” said Sabra Knox, manager of volunteer services at Hendrick Health.
Teens must be 14 years of age by Aug. 31 to qualify for the program. Hendrick promises that schedules will be flexible enough to accommodate other summertime activities like sports, camps and vacations.
Abilene applicants can seek experience from a wide spectrum of volunteer positions, including everything from information desks and gift shops to radiology, admissions and health information management.
Brownwood applicants have similar opportunities. They also include the anesthesia care unit, medical records, gastroenterology lab and the women’s and children’s units.
Visit hendrickhealth.org to apply. Click on the “Community” tab and select “Volunteer Services.” In Abilene, you can also call 325-670-2317 to request a form. Brownwood volunteers should call 325-649-3392 to do the same.
Applications are due by May 1. Orientation for selected volunteers will be June 1 in Abilene and Brownwood.
