Former Texas wing Dailyn Swain receives NBA Draft Combine invite

In less than two weeks, the top college basketball players in the nation will descend on Chicago for the NBA Draft Combine. It will now officially feature former Longhorn Dailyn Swain. The Columbus native spent only one year at Texas but was a human highlight reel, raising his stock before declaring for the NBA Draft.

During his time as a Longhorn, Swain averaged a career high 17.3 points, 3.6 assists, and 7.5 rebounds per game. He also appeared in a career-high 36 games and made the transition from Xavier to Texas seem easy. Regardless of the opponent, Swain was one of head coach Sean Miller’s most trusted weapons.

While Swain was a solid player at Xavier, he took his game to a new level in the burnt orange. That was partly due to his improvement from three-point range. While playing in the SEC, Swain shot a career-best 34.4 percent from beyond the arc. For teams in need of a dynamic scorer, that was a welcome development.

Due to his play, Swain has made national headlines. He was named the 2026 SEC Newcomer of the Year and to the All-SEC Second Team. With Swain in the mix, the Longhorns surprisingly made a deep March Madness run, putting the college basketball world on notice that Miller is building something special in Austin.

Currently, Swain is projected as a first-round pick, with some mock drafts linking him to the Denver Nuggets. A lot could change on draft day, and if Swain can put together a stellar combine, he may not be available when the Nuggets are on the clock. He showed at Austin that he can take a game over with his scoring skills and will look to replicate that in the NBA in the next chapter of his basketball career.
