Elite five-star DE Richard Wesley commits to Texas after decommitting from Oregon in May

In late May, five-star defensive end Richard Wesley decommitted from Oregon. Now, less than a month later and after taking an official visit, the talented native of Los Angeles has committed to Texas.

Texas beat out Texas A&M, Ohio State, USC and Oregon for the blue-chipper. Wesley is the 24th ranked player in the nation according to the On3 industry composite rankings. He is the 4th ranked Edge in the country and the No. 5 player in the state of California.

Over the last two years, Wesley has recorded 94 tackles, including 27.5 for a loss. He has also added 18.5 sacks to his resume in that span. Wesley has been a popular player for teams looking to add another star to their defense. The California native has shown he can carry a defense with his stellar play.

Wesley tells Jason Suchomel of OrangeBloods.com, “My recruitment is 100 percent, 1,000 percent shut down. I’m going here in January.”
