Franklin High School running back Ernie Powers leads the state of Texas in touchdowns and rushing yards, according to MaxPreps, which is dedicated to covering high school sports online and has updated stats for the state of Texas.
Powers has rushed for 1,572 yards and scored 28 touchdowns, 27 of which are rushing scores. The Cougars are 4-1 this season entering Friday’s game vs. Montwood.
Among Powers’ best games this season include 388 yards rushing and seven scores vs. Coronado, 365 yards rushing and six scores vs. Lubbock Monterey and 310 yards rushing and five scores vs. Chapin.
For his career, Powers has 3,800 yards rushing and 48 touchdowns.
