El Paso police detectives are investigating a man’s death in the same block of Magoffin Avenue near Downtown where two vacant houses were burned in an arson over the weekend.
The investigation by the Crimes Against Persons Unit began after an unknown man was found dead about 3:20 p.m. on Monday, April 20, in the 1300 block of Magoffin Avenue near Brown Street, police spokesman Officer Adrian Cisneros said in a message.
Further information regarding the death investigation was not immediately available. The investigation continued Monday evening.
On Saturday night, a large fire battled by about 50 firefighters destroyed a vacant house and spread to neighboring vacant home on the same block of the Magoffin neighborhood in South El Paso, east of Downtown. The El Paso Fire Marshals Office is investigating the arson case.
