Corpus Christi police confirmed on March 26 that a deceased man was found near Sun Valley Drive during a search operation for a missing person.
A canine officer found the deceased male around 6 p.m. March 26, according to a news release from the Corpus Christi Police Department. There were no signs of foul play at the time.
Officers were searching the area after the Corpus Christi Police Department found the ping of the last known location of a man who had been reported missing the previous evening.
The family of a 49-year-old man reported that he was missing at around 8:30 p.m. March 25. He was last seen earlier that day, at around 4:30 p.m.
The Corpus Christi Police Department K9 and drone units were dispatched to the area of Sun Valley Drive and Yorktown Boulevard to search for the missing man. The Corpus Christi Fire Department, Corpus Christi Police Department dive team, gang unit and violent crimes unit also assisted with the search, which the news release describes as “vast.”
Sun Valley Drive connects Yorktown Boulevard to Aaron Drive, near Weber Road. Sun Valley Drive meets Yorktown Boulevard near Oso Creek, which flows into a ditch that runs near Sun Valley Drive.
Corpus Christi police did not confirm that the deceased man was the missing person, though information about the missing person report, resulting search and discovery of the deceased man was all included in the same incident blotter post.
As of 9:20 a.m. March 27, identification information from the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office was not yet available.
