The Dallas Cowboys continue to see themselves in the discussion on a Jordyn Brooks trade, whether they’re actually in on the linebacker or not. Dallas has stated they are happy with the current linebackers on the roster, but they’re still in the discussion of a team interested in his services. The team hasn’t publicly expressed interest in Brooks, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t in on the veteran linebacker. They could wait until he’s released or wait until training camp before deciding on adding another linebacker to the mix.
Adding Brooks would require a trading off of assets, but there are still free agents which would cost the Cowboys nothing but coin to acquire. A look at the best available fit players currently out of work.
The Cowboys would like to see what they have at linebacker, and one UDFA could make things interesting: Vanderbilt linebacker Langston Patterson. Dallas was looking to add depth at the position and made a concerted effort to add Patterson, and for good reason. Patterson is a productive tackler coming from a tough SEC conference and could be a nice depth piece who could develop into a starter down the road. Patterson is just one of a few linebackers looking to prove themselves and force the coaching staff and front office to take notice.
