Garcia and his Mexican teammates will compete against the United States, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Canada, Brazil and Argentina.

2026 FIBA U18 AmeriCup serves as a qualifier for the 2027 U19 Basketball World Cup, with the top four teams advancing.

Because of his dual citizenship, Garcia is eligible to play for Mexico or the United States in international competition.

The 5-foot-11 Garcia will attend a training camp May 1-8 in Juárez to help the team prepare for the tournament. Garcia has attended previous camps and tournaments with his Mexican teammates to earn his spot on the team.

Garcia averaged 12 points, five assists and four steals per game for the Huskies this past season and was named first-team All-City by the El Paso Times.

As a junior starter at point guard, he helped the Huskies to a 35-2 record, while averaging 10.8 points per game.
