ANDERSON, IN — A young Delaware County woman has been sentenced to three years in prison for her role in a fatal crash in Madison County.
Adriana M. Croy, 21, of Gaston, received a four-year sentence — three years of incarceration followed by a year on probation — from Madison Circuit Court 6 Judge Mark Dudley on Wednesday, April 22.
Croy had pleaded guilty to criminal recklessness and reckless homicide.
According to court documents, the Gaston woman, then 19, was driving southbound on Madison County Road 500-E, just west of the Delaware-Madison county line, on May 11, 2024, when she tried to cross Indiana 28.
Her Cadillac struck a GMC Arcadia traveling on the state highway, fatally injuring a passenger in the SUV, Judy Gushwa, and also seriously injuring the Arcadia’s driver.
According to an affidavit, Croy failed to come to a complete stop at the intersection, running a stop sign.
She told deputies she was “trying to beat the other vehicle,” the court document said.
