Carroll delivered a championship performance on the state’s biggest high school wrestling stage Saturday night.
Roman Nino and Genevieve Bellino each captured UIL state wrestling titles at the Berry Center in Cypress, leading a strong showing for the Tigers.
Nino, who competes in the 215-pound weight class, became the first boys wrestler in school history to win a state championship. Bellino also made history by claiming her second consecutive state title in the 120-pound weight class.
Carroll also had Nicholas Bellino place fourth at 120 pounds and Marcos Nino finish sixth at 113 pounds.
King’s Isabella Arevalos earned a second-place finish in the 115-pound weight class.
Veterans Memorial added three medalists as Esteban Vela placed third at 106 pounds, Carly Rodriguez finished third at 100 pounds and Alyssa Reyes took fifth at 145 pounds.
